Help! I need to make a decision!

You can't change your direction unless you're already moving. Just like a car, it's hard to turn a corner unless we've already stepped on the gas. A lot of us our fearful of stepping out, or making a move in one direction or another, thinking we might make the wrong decision. I used to be like that. But I learned that in stepping out, when you have just enough information, you will actually be enabled to make better decisions and keep the car moving. Getting stuck in a rut is no fun when driving, much like getting stuck in a rut in life.

Have you heard about the 80% rule? Marines are trained to rely on this rule. Studies and observations of decision-making theory have concluded that one should have about 80 percent of the information to make the best decision. In the case where they need to take immediate action, there may only be 40 percent of the information available - but still the decision must be made to avoid disaster.*

Delays in decision making for lack of information may be worse than making a decision on inadequate information.

So what are you waiting for!? Gather as much information as you can, but keep your car on the move!
